If you have been looking for a festive collection of teas that truly brings out the joy and spirit of the winter holiday season, I have found it for you! You guys hear me talk about Mountain Rose Herbs all the time, but there is another herbal company that I frequently shop from and love to death! The Bulk Herb Store. They carry everything from organic herbs, teas, tinctures, salves, and more!
Wanting to spice up my tea world, I was totally stoked when Bulk Herb Store offered up their Holiday Tea Collection for me to review and give away. When my package arrived, I was beyond excited to get the box open and start trying every one of the five amazing flavors: Creamy Pumpkin Pie, Ginger Snap, Christmas Tea, Brain Booster, and Lemon Drop. I had not truly realized just how much tea is offered in this collection. 1/2 pound of loose leaf tea is a LOT of tea, and this collection boasts 5 different 1/2 pound bags! This is enough tea to last me through the whole winter!
Bulk Herb Store has been so kind to team up with me to giveaway to one lucky winner, a Holiday Tea Collection! Read to the bottom of this post to enter to win your own set of tasty holiday herbal teas to get you through this holiday season!
All of the teas that we are talking about today, are from the Holiday Tea Collection from the good folks over at the Bulk Herb Store (You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter). I was generously given each of these teas to review, but my opinions on each, are my own! I will only share with you products that I myself love and use personally!
The delicious Creamy Pumpkin Pie tea is an essential tea for your holiday season. The rich, nutty flavor of the Red Rooibos tea is blended with a variety of spices including orange peel to create this creamy, soothing blend.
Ingredients: Contains Naturally Caffeine Free, Organically Grown: Red Rooibos Tea, Cinnamon Chips, Orange Peel, Cloves, and Ginger Root
Taste/Scent:The Creamy Pumpkin Pie Tea smells and tastes of a rich creamy spicy pumpkin pie. The cinnamon and cloves really come out in the scent and the red rooibos tea gives it a true creaminess that rounds out the pie flavor.
Paired well with: A slice of pumpkin pie (duh!), cinnamon oatmeal, a good book before bed
How I drank it: I made this hot and sweetened it with (real) maple syrup (for more of a pumpkin pie flavor), and added a dash of coconut milk to give it an even creamier taste!
My thoughts: This was the tea that I was wanting to try the most. I love pumpkin pie everything and this year I have cut my Starbucks pumpkin pie lates. This tea is SOOO tasty! The rooibos tea combined with the orange peel, really gives the tea a sweet and creamy taste, while the cinnamon and ginger complete that pumpkin pie taste. The best part about this tea is that rooibos tea is not caffeinated, so I really love to drink this after dinner in the evening, when I am relaxing with a good book!
The delightful Ginger Snap Tea is elemental to serving family and friends during the invigorating months of fall and winter. Its tangy, full-bodied flavor is a perfect accompaniment to serve with your favorite homemade gingersnap cookies. The Ginger Snap Tea is very healthy and 100% organically grown.
Ingredients: Contains Naturally Caffeine Free, Organically Grown: Ginger Root, Red Rooibos Tea, Cloves, Fennel Seed, Licorice Root, Stevia Herb, Orange Peel, and Cinnamon Chips
Taste/Scent: The Ginger Snap Tea has an earthy sweet smell of ginger and fennel that is reminiscent of gingerbread cookies, fresh from the oven. It tastes delightfully of my grandmother’s gingersnap cookies. I almost couldn’t believe how great this tea tasted!
Paired well with: Gingerbread men, gingersnap cookies, Vegan Coconut Ginger Pho Soup
How I drank it: I drink this hot by itself or sometimes with a dash of coconut milk to add an even creamier taste. The licorice root and stevia leaf sweetens the tea just enough that it doesn’t need any sweetener added.
My thoughts: I LOVE this tea! I couldn’t believe how good this tea tasted and really had that same spicy kick that grandma’s gingersnap cookies have! The other totally awesome thing about this tea is that it’s a really really tasty digestive aid. One night recently, I was not feeling well and my stomach suddenly began to feel queasy, I seriously thought that I was going to throw up. Knowing that the Ginger Snap tea had ginger and fennel in it, I asked my darling husband to put the tea pot on and steep me some of the tea. Holding on to everything that I had, I waited for it to steep. With my cup in hand I smelled the herbal steam that was wafting up until I began to feel a bit better. By the time I was done sipping my cup, my nausea was completely gone and I had dodged the bullet. This stuff is now my go-to after a heavy meal!
The properties in this tea mix are amazing; they help reduce muscle spasms, colds, flu, and fever, increases circulation, high in vitamin C, promotes sleep and lowers stress. Besides the fact that this light tea tastes just like the favorite childhood candy: Lemon Drops!
Ingredients:Contains Naturally Caffeine Free, Organically Grown: Orange Peel, Stevia, Lemon Peel, Lemon Grass, and Rose Hips
Taste/Scent: This tea smells SURPRISINGLY of fruity pebbles (or maybe it’s fruitloops…) and even tastes very similar too. The fruity citrus flavor and scent is absolutely delightful and beyond just the lemon tea I had pre-judged this tea to be.
Paired well with: Mexican food, citrus cream pie, chips and salsa, lemon chicken, homemade gelatin, chicken noodle soup, before bed after drinking too much at the family christmas party
How I drank it:This is already naturally sweet and does not require any added sweeteners. I like to drink this both hot and iced with lemon wedges!
My thoughts: This tea completely surprised me! I totally misjudged this tea from the beginning, thinking that this was just a simple lemon tea. I wasn’t that interested at first, until I got my first whiff of the absolutely delicious citrus candy like smell. After one taste, I was completely hooked! I can’t stop drinking this tea, and funny enough it has become my favorite tea of all of them! Knowing that the vitamin C content in this tea is super high, I decided to do a scientific test with the hippy hubby. I have been wanting to find an herbal tea solution for preventing a hangover and knowing that vitamin C is one of the vitamins that really can help to prevent a hangover, I thought to test out this tea on the Hippy Hubby. “Forcing” him (yeah because you know i didn’t force him…) to drink a few beers, I made some of this tea for us both before bed. In the morning he told me he felt a LOT better than he usually does and really wasn’t hungover at all. For the sake of science, I did repeat this trial 3 more times, to be sure that it wasn’t just a fluke!
This delightful blend of spices, united with black tea and hibiscus, truly captures the essence of Christmas. Christmas Tea can be brewed in a coffee pot, or by adding to boiling water and steeping for a few minutes.
Ingredients: Contains Small Amount of Natural Caffeine: Hibiscus, Orange Peel, Rose Hips, Lemon Grass, Peppermint Leaf, Cinnamon Chips, Black Tea, and Cloves
Taste/Scent: This completely Christmasy blend tastes and smells of both spicy and minty flavors. The fresh and spicy blend combined with the tartness of hibiscus really just give this tea a flavor all of its own. It almost reminds me of a tart sweet cinnamint.
Paired well with: pancakes, cinnamon oatmeal, opening Christmas presents, cinnamon rolls, candy canes, french toast
How I drank it: I drank this hot sweetened with a dash of honey!
My thoughts: This tea was a big surprise. I have not had a tea like it and it most definitely is the “essence of Christmas”. I just love the pairing of spices and mint, sweet and tart. It’s such a unique delicious tea, I love to wake up with it in the morning!
Brain Booster Tea is a combination of herbs that boost brain function. This tea will be your best friend during the holiday rush, helping your head keep all the holiday gatherings and christmas list straight. This tea is not only a brilliant choice, but it also tastes great!! Ginkgo, Peppermint, and Red Raspberry are smoothly blended with Orange Peel, Red Rooibos, and energy renewing Eleuthero Root. Brain Booster is topped off with a touch of Stevia, making it a deliciously sweet and flavorful tea. Great served hot or cold.
Ingredients: Contains Naturally Caffeine Free, Organically Grown: Ginkgo, Peppermint, Red Raspberry Leaf, Eleuthero Root, Orange Peel, Red Rooibos, and Stevia
Taste/Scent: The Brain Booster tea has such a fresh, herbal, minty flavor, it’s delightful any time of day. This sweet minty tea has a slight creaminess to it because of the red rooibos.
Paired well with: After breakfast for a refreshing wake me up, anytime throughout the day as a refreshing pick me up
How I drank it: I drank this both hot and iced but I REALLY enjoyed this iced!
My thoughts: I really loved this tea iced! It was so fresh and delicious, I drank it all day long! I really like to drink this through the day when the combination of work at home and raising my son can make me feel a little bit drained and my brain is feeling tired. This tea is a great tea to drink daily!
