Happy Earth Day fellow Earth residents! This day is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate, because we get the chance to teach our kids about the many ways that we can help our Earth grow and stay beautiful. This Earth day I am coming at you with a fun project for you to do with the kiddos, a Smart Lab Toys Get Growing! Greenhouse.
The greenhouse that we are talking about today are made by the good folks over at the Smart Lab Toys (You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter). I was generously given one to review and giveaway, but my opinions are my own! I will only share with you products that I myself love and use personally!
Science and curiosity bundled together in a toy
Discover the science of plants with this innovative self-watering greenhouse. Add soil, water, sunshine, and curiosity to grow a sunflower, a plant that is sensitive to touch, and a bean. Water the plants using the drip-drop watering system, and chart the growth of each plant by filling in the Seed Growth Chart as the seeds sprout and grow. Read the booklet included in the package to discover the answers to scientific plant questions such as how plants defend themselves and why people need plants to live. When the plants have outgrown the mini flowerpots, learn how to transplant them into the garden, then choose new seeds to grow in the Get Growing! Greenhouse. This greenhouse includes:
- 10-piece self-watering greenhouse
- 3 pots
- 3 packets of seeds
- Sticker sheet
Easy to build, fun to watch grow
Silas and I were both really excited to get the Get Growing! Greenhouse in the mail. He has always loved helping me in the garden and watching our plants grow from a baby stage to bearing fruits and veggies. He was totally stoked to get his very own greenhouse and seeds to tend to. The Greenhouse was very simple to put together and we had a blast decorating it for our upcoming babies!
Add dirt, sun, love, and water to grow
With the Get Growing! Greenhouse, kids get to plant and grow three different plants (mung beans, sunflowers, and a sensitive plant), while watching and taking notes on their growth and differences. We added some dirt from our garden, planted our seeds, and put the greenhouse lid over the top. Every day, Syfy ran outside to check on his little seedlings, super excited to see how much they had grown overnight. We kept careful watch over them, waiting excitedly to see our first babies pop up through the dirt.
Observe your babies learn and grow
It's fun for Syfy to watch his plants grow from seeds into seedlings. Seeing them pop up from the dirt, he observed the immediate differences in each of the three plants. He quickly memorized which plant was which, not needing the signs to tell him what the plant could easily convey with its leaf shapes and characteristics. Though the box says that these are for 8+ years of age, I simply did the reading and writing for him while he made his own observations about the plants and they're likes and dislikes. Don't let the box fool you, this greenhouse is great for all ages!
