I was completely exhausted and having trouble keeping my eyes open, but I still had an entire day of parenting ahead of me, which meant a nap was off the table. I had been sleeping poorly lately and I was really starting to feel it in my body. Every night had become the same routine of tossing and turning, trying to find a comfortable position. It wasn't until my new Naturepedic organic mattress arrived in the mail (yes, the mail!), that I finally found the comfort and support that I had been looking for and without all those nasty toxic chemicals!
This post is sponsored by the good folks at Naturepedic. (You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). I was generously given the Naturepedic EOS Classic Mattress to review, but my opinions are my own! I will only share with you products that I myself love and use personally!
I didn't realize that many mattresses were toxic, including mine
On my quest to rid my household of toxic chemicals, I couldn't have imagined our mattress being a big culprit in the quality of the air we breathe, but that's just what I learned a couple years back when I first met the reps for Naturepedic at Shiftcon. I'm not sure why it came as a surprise to me to learn about the pesticides, flame retardants, and phthalates that are used in the process of making most mattresses, but it angered me to find yet another source of concern within my home. It's not enough that these are suspect ingredients in our body care products, cosmetics, and foods, but they are also in our beds, sheets, pillows, and pillowcases. It's enough to make this mama throw her very own tantrum. Fortunately for me ( and you), I found a mattress that not only fits my standards of quality but also supports my back like no mattress I have slept on. We're talking the perfect cloud for this angel to sleep on (someone's gotta say it…).
Naturepedic mattresses come free of questionable chemicals
I must admit. I feel like jumping off the deep end when it comes to mattress shopping. The added bonus of toxic chemicals in my future mattress made it even more of an arduous task, but those feelings have completely disappeared after shopping for my Naturepedic mattress. Naturepedic makes it easy with mattresses that are certified organic, eco-friendly, and free from toxic chemicals. Specifically:
- NO Flame Retardants or Flame Retardant Barriers
- NO Memory Foam or other forms of Polyurethane Foam
- NO Soybean or Biobased Foam (polyurethane foam with soybean oil mixed in)
- NO Synthetic Latex Rubber
- NO Harmful Glues or Adhesives
- NO GMO Cotton or other GMO fibers
- NO Shoddy Insulator Pads
Mattresses for everyone in the family!
Kids spend a large portion of their younger years sleeping bed, but what is their mattress made of exactly? As a mother, I am not just thinking about my own exposure to toxic chemicals, I'm also thinking about my kiddo. It can be so difficult trying to limit his exposure to toxic pesticides, but fortunately, I don't have to worry about it at home! Naturepedic makes mattresses, bedding, and pillow toppers for everyone in the family, including babies and children!
“Naturepedic follows the precautionary principle and eliminates questionable chemicals in the first place. Naturepedic also avoids the use of certain conventional mattress materials such as vinyl/PVC and polyurethane foam in favor of materials such as organic cotton, organic latex rubber and organic wool. In addition, Naturepedic eliminates perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs), questionable fire retardant chemicals, and antibacterial biocides.” More on why Naturepedic is the best choice, here.
