Two Really Great No-Meat Burgers For The 4th of July Grill

The 4th of July is almost here and all that I can think of are burgers! I am a HUGE fan of grilling, even if it's for vegetables. Yeah, you heard me right. I LOVE TO GRILL VEGETABLES. It is NOT blasphemous, so you should quit thinking that immediately. I was a griller before I went vegetarian and I still make some of my best meals on it now, as a vegetarian! Grilling things, adds a whole new genre of flavor to your food. That's all there is to it. Continue reading “Two Really Great No-Meat Burgers For The 4th of July Grill”

EASILY Make Your Own Non-Toxic Finger Paints At Home

After buying a whole array of finger paints from Hobby Lobby, for Silas, and setting them all up, I realized there was this stench coming from them. It was a terrible chemical smell! The bottles say non-toxic but they most certainly don't smell like they're non-toxic. This situation made me realize that I could just make my own here at home. The best part is, I know what's in them. Continue reading “EASILY Make Your Own Non-Toxic Finger Paints At Home”

Black Bean Chili with Quinoa

Andy LOVES chili. When I make chili, he takes the entire batch to work and eats it over a weeks period of time, all by himself. I find that hilarious, as I was never big on chili before we became vegetarians. I never really liked the flavor of ground beef. It always grossed me out. (Ha!!!My senses knew from way back then to stay away from the “pink slime”!) Needless to say, Andy wanted me to find a vegetarian chili that he could fall in love with. This recipe here, is the one that he is in love with. He always asks me to make him chili, even in these HOT summer days. Continue reading “Black Bean Chili with Quinoa”

DIY Upholstery & Carpet Cleaner That’s WAY Better Than Resolve!

Yesterday I got my Lavender essential oil (that I ordered from Amazon) in the mail. I was so very excited to see the UPS truck pull up to the house, that I nearly knocked my son over in the process to get to the door! I really wanted something that smelled less antiseptic than the Tea Tree oil and vinegar do. As soon as I opened my package, I set about making up a new batch of my All Purpose cleaner, only I decided to get creative in the process. What came out of this recipe was surely worth the little amount of time I spent putting it together. Continue reading “DIY Upholstery & Carpet Cleaner That's WAY Better Than Resolve!”

LENTIL LOAF…the better than meatloaf loaf

I am really big on comfort foods, and one of those comfort foods that my mother used to make me was meatloaf. I always loved meatloaf for what it is; a way to stuff all of your vegetables into a dish and hardly taste any of them at all! My grandmother (RIP) used to get my Uncle Matthew to eat his veggies (as he absolutely despised anything resembling a vegetable) Continue reading “LENTIL LOAF…the better than meatloaf loaf”

Are those chicken nuggets? NO! They’re CAJUN FRIED CAULIFLOWER NUGGETS

My husband used to tell me that he hated cauliflower because it was so “bland tasting”. Before we became vegetarians, Andy was obsessed with fried chicken, so what better way to help him get over his fears of cauliflower than to cook it the way he used to love his chicken? After eating the entire first batch of fried cauliflower, my husband is now obsessed with it. He even asks for it when we pass by the cauliflower in the grocery store. Continue reading “Are those chicken nuggets? NO! They're CAJUN FRIED CAULIFLOWER NUGGETS”

First post and it’s for those HOT summer days, CANTALOUPE SORBET the easy way

I already have a lot of things to write about, but the first post is going to be about something to keep us all cool during these long hot summer days (and nights!!!), cantaloupe sorbet. Sorbet is one of my favorite iced treats because what it lacks in milk, it makes up for in dynamic palate shaking flavors. I have always felt that milk can take away from the effectiveness of an iced treat when the temperature is above 100.
