We’re Homeschooling the Nature Way With “A Child’s World” Nature Inspired Curriculum – #HippyHomeschool Giveaway

What is nature to you? To me, nature is a classroom full of endless possibilities, with lessons ready to be learned, and answers to all of my deepest questions. I grew up out in nature. It has always felt like my REAL home and is the one place where I am able to let go and forget all of my outside worries. Nature has been a driving force in my education as well. As a child, I was deeply fascinated with the ocean and the rainforest. I was obsessed with learning more about each of these biomes, and spent hours taking up our 1 phone line, using the internet to search for more information. This was truly the beginning of my green loving hippy ways. Nature has been at the heart of my education, from the day that my dad took me on my first hike. Mudmask & Mimosa Fridays – Mudmask Recipies To Start Your Own Club

STRESS! Seriously, I am entering my first Christmas Season in retail, my son's birthday is tomorrow, Thanksgiving is nearing, and my first craft fair, ever, is only in a matter of weeks. To say that I am not stressed out would be an understatement. For the most part, I have been so busy, that I haven't had the time to sit down and do my own mud masks once weekly like I am supposed to. I literally have to set an alarm to make sure I wash my face at least once a day. Sometimes, time just gets away from me, but not any longer! Out of desperation for more relaxation and socialization in my life, I came up with the idea for a weekly meet-up with my girlfriends that would take care of stress AND our faces skin. DIY Dish Soap That Actually WORKS – It’s Simple, No Melting and No Waiting!

This post has been a LONG time coming. I have been trying to find a recipe for dish soap that ACTUALLY works, for at least a year now. I have tried just about every single DIY all-natural “crunchy” soap recipe that I could find! Every one of the recipes that I found contained castile soap in them, but I was looking for something less alkaline. The cold hard fact of the mater is that castile soap whether in liquid form, grated bar form, or even a combination of the two just wasn't working well enough to cut the grease and clean my dishes effectively. While those with soft water don't see any issues using castile soap, those with hard water find that all their dishes are covered in mineral deposits or spots. Make Your Pits Peaceful – DIY All-Natural Aluminum Free Deodorant Paste

With all of the information out there now about the extremely damaging effects of aluminum in our deodorants, many people are changing over from their antiperspirants to more natural deodorants. Some are willing to fork over the cash to try each of the natural brands until they find one that works for them, but others would like to make it themselves. I receive a lot of messages from your guys, asking me what my secret recipe for my Peace Pits Deodorant Paste is. It's true, it works better than any of the other natural deodorants that I have tried. Peace Pits is so effective it beats the stink ALL DAY LONG! I can totally understand why you want my recipe. The Hippy Homemaker’s Green Cleaning Starter Kit – The Ultimate Green Friendly Wedding Present

I had the privilege of being invited to one of my long-time friend's wedding and reception this last weekend. Though we weren't able to go to Colorado to make the actual wedding, we were able to go to their reception dinner held here in Texas. When our invitation arrived in the mail, my first thought was “what to make them for their wedding present?”  For a little over a year now, I have made all of the gifts that I have given at the parties that I have been invited to.  Each time, I was invited to a new type of party (i.e. baby showers, bridal showers, and wedding receptions), I came up with a new DIY eco-friendly gifts that I could give. This time around was no different. Continue reading “The Hippy Homemaker's Green Cleaning Starter Kit – The Ultimate Green Friendly Wedding Present”

Which Essential Oil Companies Should YOU Buy From? My surprising findings on my quest to find the best

I am most likely going to piss off some people with this post, but the information that I found was too good to keep to myself and keep you guys in the dark. As always, you should do your own research and question everything (even me!!). I ALMOST fell for the ploy. I got really excited because I felt like I was about to embark on a journey into the world of “top quality essential oils”. I thought that the lines I was being fed about these oils being “Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade” (or “CPTG”), “100% pure therapeutic grade”, and “therapeutic quality” meant that these essential oils HAD TO BE THE BEST. I was about to find out that all of these descriptions meant nothing in the eyes of the FDA and the aromatherapy world; they were just that, descriptions. Make Your Own Toothpaste For Your Kids, Your Dogs, and Yourself

Dental healthcare is a very important hygiene matter and something I became far more interested in when I began learning of all of the toxic chemicals that are in the toothpaste we use to clean out our mouths. Many toothpaste brands on the market, including many of the natural ones, are filled with sulfates, parabens, and even fluoride (all highly toxic chemicals).  Wanting to find the most natural solution for our dental care, I took a stab at making my own toothpaste a few years back. It turns out,  years later, we still use this same recipe for our toothpaste AND it works just fine! In fact, my teeth have become whiter, stronger, and less sensitive than they used to be when I was brushing them with store bought brands.
