If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you should know by now that essential oils are one of my favorite topics! While studying Master Aromatherapy through Demetria Clark at the Heart of Herbs school, I found a love for the science behind aromatherapy and what is truly in a smell. While aromatherapy has been around for a lot longer than many of our modern pharmaceuticals, many people still don’t understand the science of smell and how it can work with our bodies to change our mood, help to support our immune system, or even help us to drift off to sleep. While I usually use a roll-on or my living room diffuser to utilize my essential oils, I have always wished that there was a better way to inhale my essential oils personally. Apparently, I had been missing out because there totally is! It looks like an E-cig, but it’s NOT! It’s a personal essential oil diffuser made by MONQ, and it’s totally awesome!
Our very first family backpacking trip was a HUGE success! We had so much fun (more on that in the next post!) that we are already planning our next trip (I’m thinking Zion). On our trip, our homemade dehydrated meals definitely stood out and made a huge difference on how awesome our trip was! I had spent the last couple months dehydrating all of the fruits, veggies, and proteins that we needed for this trip so that we’d eat healthy whole foods meals without all the icky additives. Teething babies are no fun for anyone. As they start to cut their first teeth, many babies will experience a myriad of symptoms that will make them range from minorly uncomfortable to extremely uncomfortable. A slight fever, extra drool, irritability, swollen gums, and even not wanting to eat are all symptoms that your baby is starting to cut their first teeth. No two babies are alike and each one can experience a slightly different set of symptoms. No matter the symptoms, we all share the same feelings. We want our babies to feel better and to take away their pain! The question on the Hippy mama’s mind, is “What natural methods can I use to ease my baby’s teething discomfort?” You are not alone, that’s the same question I asked myself when my baby started teething (he’s 6 now, so we’re going through a whole new round of teething lol!)

One of the worst headaches that I have experienced, was a spinal headache. They had injected my spine with contrast dye, hoping to see the extent of the damage that needed to be fixed in my upcoming surgery to untether my spinal cord. At the time, I couldn’t fathom what my Doctor meant when he had told me to lay down for a few hours afterward, otherwise, it might go to my head. What is nature to you? To me, nature is a classroom full of endless possibilities, with lessons ready to be learned, and answers to all of my deepest questions. I grew up out in nature. It has always felt like my REAL home and is the one place where I am able to let go and forget all of my outside worries. Nature has been a driving force in my education as well. As a child, I was deeply fascinated with the ocean and the rainforest. I was obsessed with learning more about each of these biomes, and spent hours taking up our 1 phone line, using the internet to search for more information. STRESS! Seriously, I am entering my first Christmas Season in retail, my son’s birthday is tomorrow, Thanksgiving is nearing, and my first craft fair, ever, is only in a matter of weeks. To say that I am not stressed out would be an understatement. For the most part, I have been so busy, that I haven’t had the time to sit down and do my own mud masks once weekly like I am supposed to. I literally have to set an alarm to make sure I wash my face at least once a day. Sometimes, time just gets away from me, but not any longer! This post has been a LONG time coming. I have been trying to find a recipe for dish soap that ACTUALLY works, for at least a year now. I have tried just about every single DIY all-natural “crunchy” soap recipe that I could find! Every one of the recipes that I found contained castile soap in them, but I was looking for something less alkaline. The cold hard fact of the mater is that castile soap whether in liquid form, grated bar form, or even a combination of the two just wasn’t working well enough to cut the grease and clean my dishes effectively. While those with soft water don’t see any issues using castile soap, those with hard water find that all their dishes are covered in mineral deposits or spots.
