Homemade Peppermint Tea Tree Aftershave For the Hairless Hippy in Your Life

Let's face it. Men can be really difficult to shop for during the holiday season. They can even be really difficult to make homemade products for too. I originally created my beard conditioning oil specifically for my ex and his grizzly beard that he has worn since the day I met him (I almost think he was born with that beard!), but not all men like to wear a beard. So, in an effort to help the rest of you out with a nice homemade gift, I have made an aftershave and shaving cream just for the guys who shave in my life.

A quick gift that can easily be customized

I know this is a little last minute for a gift, but if you have the ingredients on hand, this gift can be made in a flash. When I am making this homemade aftershave, I usually like to first steep the witch hazel in a handful of peppermint leaves (fill a mason jar 1/3 of the way full with peppermint leaves and then cover all the way to the top of the jar with witch hazel.) and let it sit (sealed of course) for two weeks (giving it a shake every day). I then strain the herbal infused witch hazel and use it in my recipe.

First, you shave and then, you aftershave...

This last year, I wrote a post on making your own Smooth Hippy Shaving Cream. This shaving cream has been dude tested and approved to be a fabulous clean shave for the face. If you are giving this aftershave as a gift, it would make a great gift if given along with a jar of the shaving cream too!

    Homemade Peppermint Tea Tree Aftershave

    INGREDIENTS

    •  4 oz. spray bottle
    • 1/4 cup witch hazel
    • 1 Tbsp. vegetable glycerin
    • 1 Tbsp. Aloe Vera Gel
    • 2 Tbsp. filtered water
    • 10 drops peppermint essential oil
    • 10 drops tea tree essential oil

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Combine ingredients in 4 oz. spray bottle and shake to combine.

    TO USE

Shake well before each use. Spray onto your freshly shaven face and either air dry or pat dry with a towel.
